Lesson 2: Future Tense Conjugation
(-(으)ㄹ 거예요)
Talking About "Tomorrow"
You can talk about today (present) and yesterday (past). Now, let's talk about *tomorrow* (내일 - naeil)!
The most common way to say you "will" or "are going to" do something is by attaching -(으)ㄹ 거예요 (-(eu)l geoyeyo) to the verb stem.
The logic depends on whether the stem ends in a vowel or a consonant.
The Two Future Tense Rules
As always, we start by dropping 다 (da) to get the verb stem.
Rule 1: Stem ends in a VOWEL
Add ㄹ 거예요 directly to the stem.
Rule 2: Stem ends in a CONSONANT
Add 을 거예요 to the stem.
Special Rule: Stem ends in 'ㄹ'
If the stem *already* ends in ㄹ (L) (like 살다 - to live or 만들다 - to make), it's even easier!
You just add 거예요 (no 을 needed).
It follows Rule 1: The 'ㄹ' just attaches to the stem, so you don't add *another* one.
Future Tense Sentences
Let's say what we will do *tomorrow* (내일 - naeil).

-
집에서 빵을 먹을 거예요.
