Elementary School - Grade 4
Lesson 7: Connecting Verbs
-고 (and / and then)
"And" for Verbs & Adjectives
You've learned to connect nouns: "bread 하고 milk" (빵하고 우유).
Now, let's connect actions and descriptions! The `-고` particle attaches to a verb or adjective stem to link it to the next one. It can mean "and then" (showing sequence) or just "and" (listing qualities).
The Magic Rule: Just Add -고
This is another beautifully simple rule. It doesn't matter if the stem ends in a vowel or a consonant. Just drop `다` and add `-고`.
To eat
먹다 먹-
-고
먹고
To go
가다 가-
-고
가고
